Choosing A Surgeon
The first step in achieving your best vision is choosing the right surgeon. They can help you decide between procedures like PRK and LASIK to get the best result possible.
Your decision should be based on a combination of qualities.
Experience
Ideally, your surgeon should have performed hundreds of surgeries. You want to find a surgeon with a high success rate and who has the experience to handle any complications.
Dr. Anderson Penno has been practicing laser eye surgery since 1996, has performed thousands of surgeries, and has written dozens of articles and three books on refractive surgery.
Results
When you are screening surgeons, don’t be afraid to ask questions! Ask your surgeon what percentage of their patients see 20/20 or better after surgery, and what percentage of patients have required follow-up surgery to achieve their best vision.
Experts in ophthalmology say that for low to moderate corrections less than 10% of patients should require follow up procedures. High corrections and hyperopic (farsighted corrections) may have a higher likelihood of follow up procedures.
Questions to ask your surgeon
Before undergoing any medical procedure, you should know what to expect. Your eye surgeon should be willing and able to answer all of your questions. This will help you decide if you have chosen the right surgeon, and it will help you prepare for your procedure.
Involvement
Your eye surgeon should be involved in the entire process, including your evaluation, procedure, and after care. Ideally, your surgeon will also be able to take care of your general ophthalmology needs as well.
We value quality over quantity. Dr. Anderson Penno performs a thorough, personal evaluation of every patient, free of charge. She can also take care of your general ophthalmology needs.
Cost
At Western Laser Eye Associates we believe that every patient deserves the same quality care. For that reason, we have simplified pricing rather than a sliding scale of options. There are no hidden costs.
Dr. Anderson Penno’s pricing is related to the quality of her work. She spends individual time with each patient, customizing each procedure for every individual eye she corrects. If required, flexible financing is available, so you don’t have to wait for the quality eye care you deserve.
